[edit] GUIDELINES

  • Write your name next to the date you would like to do your presentation. First come, first serve. There are two slots per week indicated. (You need to be logged in to do this!)
  • Using the internet AND the library (print resources and moving image in the SMIL), research in detail one of the works of your choice (options listed below). Describe this artist's work, paying special attention to the type of technologies utilized, manners in which the viewer is intended to encounter the work, larger political/cultural/aesthetic issues and philosophies explored. Don't be afraid to get technical, but also try to give a broad, contextual view (you could bring other historical practices into your talk, those that have had an influence on the artist). The artists' own writings (when available) should also be used to inform your discussion.
  • Please, no biographical notes on the artist. Nor should you be reading information contained on a website without bringing your own specific take/critique of this material.
  • Presentations should be 15 minutes long.
  • Prensentations are worth 15% of your final mark.
  • As mentioned, if you would like to discuss an alternate artist (not in the list), just ask me (send me the link to / information about the artist).
